Found it surprisingly quickly, actually.

Googled for "movie amnesia" and found a site that had a bunch of movies tagged with the word 'amnesia'. Scrolling down the page a bit, I found and remembered Overboard

However, it wasn't a car wreck she was in, it was that she fell overboard from her boat. Her character was a rich woman played by Goldie Hawn. The guy was played by Kurt Russell and he had done some kind of work for her a couple of days earlier and she was abusive to him about it (not sure if she didn't pay him or what). He knew about her birthmark because he spotted it while doing the repair work on her boat.

If this is not the movie you're thinking about, I wonder if possibly the one you are looking for was an earlier version of "Overboard"?
