Well the guy wakes up, and has amnesia or something that fogs his memory. He gets taken in by government officials, because he was working on something top secret, and they need to know what he saw. He left himself various things that would lead him to certain areas, and knowing himself, it would make him do certain things at those areas.
He had a cigar that emitted abnormal amount of smoke, and a pair of glasses that would let him see through it, to name some of the objects.
