Can you have amnesia where you forget how to talk?

like... every time i see a movie or read a story about someone who has amnesia they only forget their life. (and i know this isn't real, but its interesting.) So my question is can you REALLY forget, like how to talk, how to walk.... stuff like that.



Its so weird, how they can remember everything but their families, friends, mostly life events.

From the actual cases I have read about or watched a movie about people with amnesia forget things like families, friends, but are still able to walk and talk. One man only had short term memory, meaning he could not recall past events or lay down new memories he just lived moment to moment. He was able to walk and talk. He did not consciously recognize his wife but was happy and excited when she came in the room and felt love towards her. He was a composer as well and if you asked him to play a song he could not, but when sat at a piano he inadvertently played a song. This showed that he still had memory but he could not consciously access it,
