It freaked me out a bit when I first saw it almost twenty years ago. (And it was already an old movie then). In it, a soldier who has amnesia is certain he comes from a town named - I think - Plains, Vermont. His records, however, indicate that he was actually from another town, so he is returned there. Essentially, the rest of the movie is the soldier trying to find out why "Plains, Vermont" is so signficant to him. He goes around questioning people, and they seem to know something but definitely don't want to talk about it. In the end, we find out that while the soldier was a child, his parents were murdered at a street corner in the town and, you guessed it, it was the corner of Plains and Vermont streets. The final shot of the film looks something like the icon to "Answers on the Street" on this site. I have tried to look up this movie online several times but had no luck, so I'm guessing I don't have the title exactly right. Please help me out if you can. Thanks!Movie with title something like "Welcome Home, Johnny Bristol"?
You have the title. It stars Martin Landau as the very confused Johnny Bristol.
This was a TV movie that I remember quite well. It's a great mystery film and should be shown more.Movie with title something like "Welcome Home, Johnny Bristol"?
Could this made for TV movie be the one you're thinking of?
Welcome Home, Johnny Bristol:
An American soldier manages to endure his captivity in a Vietnamese POW camp by keeping alive the memories of life in his home town. When he is finally released from the camp, and is discharged from the military, he goes back to his town - but he can find no trace whatsoever of it

Is complete retrograde amnesia possible?
Retrograde amnesia is when a person loses SOME memory leading up to a trauma (like a head injury). But is it possible to lose ALL previous memory (as suggested by movies and television)? Is complete retrograde amnesia possible?
I haven't heard of a case, nor am I a doctor, but if you want to look into it, go to research firm's websites like the Mayo Clinic (http://mayoclinic.com/) or ask a professional. Is complete retrograde amnesia possible?
I'm sorry, what?

'Groundhog Day' movie - psychological meanings?
Is there some similarity within this film about being 'locked-in' to a mental state suffered by those with dementia and/or amnesia...?
If so I'd be grateful to know of some parts of the movie theme that present that similarity.'Groundhog Day' movie - psychological meanings?
Well, you could start with the fact that Bill Murray openly states he has no idea how many times he had relived that same day. How is that similar to dementia?
Allow me to retell a story about my grandmother when she was in the first five years down her path of dementia hell.
So, after a six week absence I visit my grandmother, and notice by chance that the same book is on the coffee table that I saw from my last visit. Knowing full well that my grandmother, fluent in four languages, was a very fast reader, I asked why she was still reading the same book.
Her response was touching, heart warming and all together revealing insight into this disease. She said plainly " Well, it's a good book, and with my memory fading as fast as it has been, I can read a chapter, and within 48 hours, I don't remember so much that I cannot continually reread that same chapter."
The blur, the fog, the confusion... the part that is often hard for people who are forgetting their own life is, they don't remember how much it is that they have forgotten. Bill Murray had lived a full life in a single day. He learned musical instruments, associated with all the people he could reach and his original life, and perhaps even his perpetually retold life were both a blur. Not a single line in this movie was unforgettable, but Mr Murray's performance, and the concept of the film are iconic and will be difficult to copy without coming off as cheap.'Groundhog Day' movie - psychological meanings?

What is the name of the movie?
The main plot is about several persons, who were doomed to forever witness the death of all people. They were doomed after witnessing the death of Jesus. The main actress has amnesia and gets followed throughout the movie by the "colleagues of suffering", who are trying to remind her of her belonging to this doomed group. As far as I can remember the action is set in a small town in England (I'm not sure about this). The movie is older (%26gt;1990 but %26lt;2000) and it is not "Phe Passion Recut", nor "The Witness". Please help me, as I am really bugged by this. Thank youWhat is the name of the movie?

What martial arts movie is this?
I remember watching this movie maybe back in 2004-ish. It involves a bunch of warriors, one has a huge hammer, i remember and they all die near the end. It stars some guy who gets amnesia i think and he gains his powers back when he makes a ball of water in a barrel. The movie ends with him pushing the bad general guy off into a pile of spikes. HelpWhat martial arts movie is this?
Mortal Kombat.
Well, the villain is called Shao Kan. He takes the souls of any of the losers. He invites warriors to fight in this island. There is Johnny Cash (the actor), Red Sonja, the hero Lou, then the girls who wears shorts who kills the guy with an eye patch. And as for the water bucket scene there are these two ugly ninja type guys. One can freeze with these blasts from his hands. The other (called Scorpion) has a snake coming out of his hand. He fights Cash. In the last scene Lou and Shao Kan fight in a hall where there are spikes on the floor.
